null god blog

Home is where the start is

The purpose of this site is expressed pretty well in the Introduction, which is where you start reading. To summarize, though:

People naturally want to find a harmony between their concept of God, and what they experience in their own lives. Most people assume they've found it. I want people to challenge their "bridge", and test whether it actually bears weight. But most importantly, I want people to question the implications of this personal compromise - whether the god left over after all the concessions, is by practical measures any different from nothing.

This is a very sensitive subject, and I want to tackle it in a gentle manner. But the subject matter is inevitably gonna be rough. Some people will find the pace slow, while others may falsely interpret it as an attack, or the product of depression (it's not, but this kinda behavior is pretty typical). There's no pleasing all audiences, but I am trying to find some sort of average, so I can be equally displeasing to all readers, and at least be fair.

For that matter, I'm using this opportunity to explore these ideas myself. I have a rough idea where I'm going with this, but I've lived most of my life in a very tiny ideological box. Now I'm blinking in the sunlight, getting used to freedom, and pursuing paths I didn't know existed a few years ago. There's plenty of sunlight here for everyone, so I hope you'll share it with me. Hiking alone can be very contemplative, but it's more fun with friends.
